How it works
Five ways coaches use BenchStats.
Some coaches live in the film. Some just want the numbers. BenchStats works either way.

Situation 2
“Scout our next opponent.”
Opponent Team & Player Tendencies Beta
- Upload the opponent’s recent games that you have the right to use.
- Open Scout: their stats, the defenses they run, and points per possession allowed against each.
- Click Watch 41 to see every possession against their 2-3 zone.
Defense labels are in beta and editable. When the film doesn’t show enough, the defense is left unknown.

Situation 3
“I need clips for practice.”
Filter by Possession Type
- Open the game and filter by a tag, like turnovers.
- BenchStats lines up every match in game order and plays them back to back.
- Skip dead time is on, so free throws and stoppages are cut.

Situation 4
“Just give me the numbers.”
Team Stats
- Upload the game.
- Open the Team page: a box score for both teams, plus points per possession.
- That’s it. You never have to open the film, but every number will open its possessions if you want them.

“How did my guards play?”
Individual Player Stats Beta
- Open the Players view: points, shots, rebounds, assists and turnovers by jersey number.
- Plays the film can’t settle are marked unconfirmed, never guessed.
- Confirm them in a click and they’re added to the right player’s line.

BenchStats does the work. You make the calls.
Fix any tag
Every automatic tag can be changed, and the stats follow your correction.
Unconfirmed, not guessed
When the film can’t settle who made a play, BenchStats says so and lists it for you to confirm.

Before you start
What you need
- What film do I need?
- Game film you have the right to use: your own games, or an opponent’s game your league or school shares for scouting. Accuracy can vary by film format. BenchStats works best on NFHS-style film: a mounted Pixellot camera near mid-court with the scoreboard box in the corner. See privacy and film rights.
- How long until I see results?
- Games finish overnight.
- What if a tag is wrong?
- Change it. The stats are built from the tags, so a correction carries through to the numbers.
