Your film, your players, your data.

BenchStats opens to coaches in November. Here are straight answers on how we will handle your team’s film and your players’ information. This is a plain-language summary; the full Terms and Privacy Policy will be published before we open.

Your film

Ownership, access and how it’s used

Who owns the film I upload?: You or your school do. Uploading doesn’t transfer ownership. By uploading, you let BenchStats store and process the film to produce your results. Nothing more, unless you authorize it.
Who can see my film and stats?: The people in your program who have access, and BenchStats for running the service. It isn’t public, it isn’t sold, and it isn’t shared with other teams unless your staff chooses to share it.
Is my film used to train models?: No. We never train on your film or the data built from it unless you authorize it. If you do, we use it only for BenchStats’ own models. We don’t sell it, we don’t share it with other customers, and we don’t use it to train anyone else’s models.

Your data

Deleting it, and what you can upload

Can I delete a game?: Yes, any time, from your dashboard. Deleting a game removes it and its data, and the removal is completed within 24 hours. If you had authorized training, deleting a game doesn’t undo improvements already made to our models.
What happens if I close my account?: We may keep your games and data after an account is closed, unless you ask us to remove them first. When you close your account, we give you that option.
Can I upload an opponent’s game?: Only film you have the right to use. Rules differ by film service and by state, so check the terms of wherever the film came from before you upload it.

Your players

What we store about players

Do players need accounts?: No. Players never sign up or log in. Only coaching staff use BenchStats.
What do you store about players?: The game film you upload, jersey numbers read from it, and the stats built from it. Rosters use jersey numbers and positions. Player names are optional.
Are player stats school records?: That depends on your state and school. Some states and districts treat information about students as education records. If you’re not sure, ask your school’s privacy contact before you upload.

Security

How your film is protected

Where is my film stored?: In private cloud storage. It will travel over HTTPS and play back only to signed-in members of your school, and other schools won’t be able to see it.
Who can get into my account?: Only people your school’s administrator invites, with the permissions that administrator sets. Everyone will sign in, and each person will see only their own school’s films.
What if there’s a problem?: If a security problem affects your data, we’ll tell the affected schools promptly, as state law requires.

This website

What this site collects

What does this website collect?: If you join early access, your email address, the page you signed up on, and the campaign tag in the link you followed, if there was one. We use it only to tell you when BenchStats opens, and you can unsubscribe any time. If you send us a message, we keep it so we can reply.
Do you use analytics or ads?: We use Google Analytics to count visits, with Google signals and ad personalization turned off. Nothing on this site is used for advertising.
